And so the story...

I love glass in any way, shape or form. It has always amazed me – in working with it, the substance can be taken from solid to liquid and back to solid again. Needless to say, I love the premise of art & functional glass in the movie “Sweet Home Alabama” and would love to plant rods in the sand during a lightning storm to see if I could strike it rich! Over the years, I have gathered thousands of Czech glass beads, sprinkling them here and there throughout my designs as accent pieces, of sorts.

Today, thanks to a Miriam Haskell bit of inspiration, I had the brilliant idea (yes, I said brilliant…the idea, not me so much!) of creating a bracelet that includes all of the little beads tossed together; like confetti thrown to the wind in celebration. Look closely and you’ll see polka dots of reds, turquoise, silver, gold, black and even peachy-pinks. Matte and glossy finishes and different shapes and sizes all play together so well. The Czech Jablonex glass faceted round beads in jet bring all of the joy together. After some contemplation, I choose to use an oversized black oval open link aluminum chain to give the piece a 1920s vintage feel. Then, maybe because it was the holiday season, I added a touch of “tinsel” in the way of a textured silver-plate chain.

It’s a happy piece, don’t you think? Closes with an oversized lobster clasp. Measures 7 ½” long but fits a bit smaller because of the four strands (well, five really). With a 1 ½” extender it will fit most wrist sizes.

Handmade in the USA using domestic and imported components.
