#0488 Dragonfly Czech Vintage Button & Pearl Bracelet
And so the story...
By now, it’s got to be pretty obvious that I have a penchant for all things vintage – of course, that includes jewelry. That being said you can imagine my reaction when, strolling the aisles in Tucson, I saw these lovely Czech glass buttons that were made using vintage molds from the factory’s vault. This one, a soothing sapphire blue color blends magically with the gold dragonfly that graces it. The challenge for me came in the way of design. Must admit, I channeled my inner Miriam Haskell. While I wanted to call attention to the button, I also needed to figure out a way to bring the past into the present. Mixing the combination of a Florentine-finished large link chain with freshwater pearls and sparkling Czech Jablonex fire-polished glass beads turned out to be the perfect way to get a feel for the old without making it look dowdy. The button glistens with the essence of “fairy dust” when the light dances off the glass and gold link chain.
The end result – a feminine vintage look tossed with a downtown bohemian appeal. I like it worn with the pearls and button closest to my hand – allowing the button to drape over the freshwater pearls, letting the bold link chain frame the look. I love the mix of gold with the soft blue of the button – when I was wear-testing my sample, I layered it with a few gold bangles from my collection and also mixed it up with some big bold pearl bracelets I have. They all looked great – and thank goodness – there is no such thing as “dear, don’t you think you are wearing too many bracelets.”
The finished length of the bracelet measures 8 inches; but because of the depth of the components the bracelet fits a bit smaller. Once again, I would say if you have a really small petite wrist, I would pass on this particular design – but don’t despair there are others in the works designed just for you. Closes with a generously sized lobster clasp.
Special note: I have had so many of you ask me to repeat this design, if you see it is out of stock here and you are interested in being placed on the “waitlist” send me a note at tanya @ tanyalochridge dot com and I’ll add your name to the list and let you know when more are available. No doubt about it – it’s well worth the wait.
