Believe me…this is truly one of a kind and will never be reproduced exactly as it is here. The idea for this necklace sprouted from a request to use the technique I use in my popular crochet style rope bracelets. So – that is what I did. Of late, I have been so intrigued by a style of jewelry known as “steampunk” I wanted to see if I could blend the two techniques together. This is the outcome – of course, with my own twist. I had so much fun with all the chain and the crazy wrapped beads and mixing in the lovely rainbow hickoryite, smoky quartz and freshwater pearls that the necklace kept growing and growing and growing. Czech glass and antiqued metal bits and bobs dangle about on the 54” necklace. Such an interesting mix of texture and color. It all comes together with a dark antique metal lobster clasp, which makes it easy to wrap around and around and around your neck. I suppose, if you were ambitious you might be able to wrap it around your wrist as well. The necklace shown on the neck display is wrapped 3 1/2 times to get it all in the image. PLEASE do not wear it as a belt – you know why – too much movement in the waist and hips puts strain on a design not made for that type of stress. Also, don’t be fooled – the rainbow hickoryite might look like wood but it is indeed a beautiful rock direct from Mother Nature. This is a big necklace – beads range in shape and size from just over one-inch long and the freshwater coco colored pearls run between 10mm and 11mm – ringed, baroque shaped and lovely. It’s definitely a conversation starter, this one. Wear it well – and I would love to see a pix of how you style it to make it your own.
